How to claim
Steps taken immediately after an insured event can greatly influence how efficiently the claim is handled.
The following is a reminder of the action that should be taken following a loss.
Motor
- Advise Hepburns Insurance as soon as possible using the online New Claim Notification form or by telephone or by sending a Phone Me request
- Have details of incident (date, time, how it occurred and attributable blame)
- Have details of driver (name, date of birth, contact numbers and motoring convictions)
- Have details of other party (name, contact details, registration number, insurer, policy number)
- Have details of any injuries or witnesses
- If police involvement, have details of the officer who attended and the police reference number
- If comprehensively insured, take your vehicle to an Approved Repairer
- If you are not at fault for the accident and have uninsured losses such as own vehicle repairs (if not comprehensively insured), excess, hire car charges, personal injury or loss of earnings and have taken Legal Protection insurance, please let us have details
- You should not admit liability without insurers’ approval
Property (Personal & Commercial)
- Advise Hepburns Insurance as soon as possible using the online New Claim Notification form or by telephone or by sending a Phone Me request
- Have details of incident (when, where and how it occurred)
- Have details of the loss or damage and estimated cost of repair or replacement
- If theft, damage by malicious persons or accidental damage, have details of who discovered the damage including date and time of discovery
- If police involvement, have details of the officer who attended and the police reference number
- If the property is also covered by another insurer, we will require the contact details of that insurer
Liability
- Advise Hepburns Insurance as soon as possible using the online New Claim Notification form or by telephone or by sending a Phone Me request
- Have details of incident (date, time, how it occurred and attributable blame)
- Have details of the claimant (name, contact details, date of birth, employer details (if different from the policyholder)
- Have details of any injuries or witnesses
- For Public or Products liability claims, have details of the loss or damage to property and estimated cost of repair or replacement
- You should not admit liability without insurers’ approval
